This topic allows Leon, a well respected naturalist and educator, to cover plants and landscapes, as well as something of the interpretation of our more interesting landforms and geology, through photography.
His talk will focus on photography as a means of interpreting the natural world for scientific, educational and publishing purposes.
Background: Leon Costermans grew up in a family environment of photography, art, natural science and bushwalking, and he still continues to combine these interests.
He holds science degrees with specialisation in geology and botany, and has published books in these fields. Since retiring from the Faculty of Education at Monash University, he has continued to give training sessions and produce books mainly for community organisations, using his own photography, illustration and design.
