WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY (extract from July and August VAPS Newsbrief)
"August 19th 2008. Celebrate World Photography Day Pay tribute to the pioneers and remember the inventor of photography. This is a good way to make people aware of the importance of the science and art of photography, to make them aware of the power and potential of photography etc" and for Photographic Clubs to celebrate this event by "organising special exhibitions, competitions, memorial lecturers, conferences, seminars and workshops".
MCC has assembled a series of activities in order to participate in World Photography Day. The activities include:
Monday 11th August - a demonstration of the new studio equipment and discussion of what makes a great portfolio photo. This Portrait Group night will be a skill development workshop. The activities planned are:

- a practical demonstration of the new studio equipment. MCC Board has recently approved the purchase of $3,500 of new studio equipment, so this demonstration will be to show what we got, what it does etc, (presented by Srdjan Nikolic)
- a tutorial presentation on how to imbed makers name, copyright and other key metadata into portrait images for provided to models (presented by Patrick Jackson)
- a panel of 2 or 3 experienced portrait photographers will critique some images and provide a few tips on what make a good image for inclusion in a model's portfolio (panel will include Srdjan Nikolic).
