Details for Tuesday 28 October 2008:
Start: 7:30 PM on steps of Federation Square. We will then walk down into Birrarung Marr, where the large ferris wheel was (until very recently).
Finish: Federation Square, approx 9:30-10.00 PM
What: portraits in city at night, using available light only
Models: volunteered/chosen from group of photographers
What to bring:
- your digital camera
- fast lens (eg. a fixed 50mm f/1.8 will be perfect)
- comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing
- a piece of white paper (can be folded)
- monopod (if you have one)
What NOT to bring:
The idea of this walk is to explore locations and the (perhaps) unexpected light sources that can be used for portraits.
I will assume that you are familiar with the use of your camera and the basic concepts of film speed/shutter speed/aperture and white balance. Basic working knowledge of how to access/read the histogram on your camera and how to define a custom white balance may be useful but will not be essential.
A reminder: ensure the date/time in your camera is set correctly (if you haven't already adjusted it for daylight saving time).
If you are running late and need to call me to find out where we are, my mobile is 0402-323-739.
