Ponch Hawkes uses her camera to turn the ordinary into
something special, writes John Mangan.
Hand-me-downs fascinate Ponch Hawkes. Whether they’re
trades, folk traditions or water polo skills, the Melbourne
photographer has spent the past 25 years capturing them on film,
and has also managed to squeeze in a career as lighting designer
and board member for the globally acclaimed Circus Oz.
