Exposure is a very basic topic in photography, one would think. However there is more to it than touches the eye, and knowing about the interrelations between it and for example subject contrast, filters, the film used, its rating and development, definitely helps to get better results.
Tonight, Tim will give an introduction to exposure, touching on the points mentioned and presenting some techniques to address them.
In later meetings we will expand on that and look more closely on development and filters. In the upcoming medium and large format studio shoot on 19th September we will have ample opportunity to practice, and also learn about, and get a feeling for, shooting with medium and large format cameras and film.
So let's start at the beginning, by looking at the the factors involved in creating that exposure. This will certainly be an interesting night for everybody interested in nailing their exposure, so if you are, please show up!
Of course the print folios are still and continuously ongoing, so if you have one then please bring it in, and if you have prints up to 8x10" you would like some feedback on, then bring them.
Plug: if you are looking at this, you may also be interested in the Traditional Darkroom Printmakers' 9th Annual Exhibition which opens on Saturday, 22 August, 2pm and is open to the public on 22-23 and 29-30 August, 2-5pm. See the associated calendar entries for more information.
