Every member interested in learning about medium and large format
(film) cameras and how to use them is cordially invited to join the
Traditional Darkroom Printmakers group on Saturday, 19 September from
12pm for a thorough introduction and studio shoot.
Barrie Bunning, a long-standing member of the Club with extensive large and medium format
experience, will lead the session with support from other group
members.
If you have a medium or/and large format film camera yourself, then
bring it along; if you don't, we'll have one for you to use. Ditto if
you have your own film then feel free to bring it along, otherwise you
can buy some from us at very low cost. (We will be bulk-ordering film
from the US, expected cost to members will be from $5 per roll,
compared to $8.50+ in local shops.)
Those interested in film processing can then join us at our September meeting where we will do just that.
The idea of this event is to get people to learn how these cameras
work and really get involved with them. For that reason, and to avoid
people from retreating back into their comfort zones, we'd prefer if no
alternatives were available. Meaning even if you love your 35mm or
digital camera, leave them at home. (We don't mind if you use other cameras for documenting the event, just
ask everyone to keep in mind and respect that the event itself is about
using medium and large format cameras.)
Of course we are aware that people need to eat something and will
work something out together – one option might be ordering pizza from
Clarendon St, or if the weather is nice we can get something from South
Melbourne Market to put onto the BBQ.
No reservation is necessary, however if you consider going then please let Ronald know, so that we get an approximate idea on how many people to expect.
