The Traditional Darkroom Printmakers Group is organising an excursion
to the Grampians on the weekend 3-4 October 2009, to do film
photography. Most of us will be going on Friday evening, some on
Saturday morning. Registration until 28 September 2009 at the latest.

Tim Kohlman's family has a house in Pomonal, 3 hours from Melbourne, that we can use.
Quoting Tim, "It's a 4 bedroom house (3 double bed rooms, one bunk
room, also mattresses can be pulled out to sleep more), 5 acre property
if people want to camp."
We'll be charged $10 per person per night, which seems rather reasonable.
Alec McKaskill provided the following information about the general area:
-
Mount Stapylton and Mt Zero Area has the most spectacular rock
formations in the Grampians (and Victoria). Enormous red cliffs and
textured weathered rock is everywhere. Taipan Wall is spectacular and
one of the premier rock climbing venues in Australia while the nearby
Summerday Valley is often busy with beginner climbers that are close to
the ground and easy to photograph. Hollow Mountain is a short walk and
has a small cave at its summit. Good views abound and there is plenty
of walking trails both in the bush down low and up around the rocky
summits.
-
McKenzie Falls is a big waterfall (ie big drop, lots of water) preceded by a rambling set of terraces.
-
The Wonderland Walk is a popular easy walk with remarkable rock
formations that finishes at The Pinnacle overlooking Halls Gap and Lake
Bellfield.
-
We are almost guaranteed to see emu, kangaroo and kookaburas.
It was suggested to bring along extra cameras and film for people
without own equipment, however no interest has been indicated in that
so far. We will, however, definitely take along the Club's large format
camera, and LF film (including infrared film, for those who are
interested in trying that).
