Competition for all current VAPS slide workers in 2008

Last year Melbourne Camera Club put a proposal to the VAPS mid-term meeting offering to host a slide competition for current slide workers based on the familiar format of a club’s monthly competition.  Delegates warmly received the proposal, and the competition was held at the VAPS AGM in October 2007.

Twenty slide workers entered 80 slides.  All the slides, with judge’s comments, were shown before the AGM.  The success of this activity has resulted in MCC offering to host two more competitions in 2008 - one to coincide with the VAPS mid-term meeting in April, and the other to coincide with the VAPS AGM in October.

The aims of these competitions are the same as the October 2007 competition - to offer VAPS members the opportunity to develop their slide-photography skills, be compared with other current slide workers, and critiqued by competition judges.  We hope this will encourage slide workers to compete in National and International slide competitions, and ensure a future for slide photography.

Print Competition

The Melbourne Camera Club's monthly competition rules were revised in February 2008, with a range of changes contained in the updated PDF document below:

pdfCompetition Rules (February 2008)

The new rules relating to the size of prints now means that A-, B- and C-grade entries have the same size limitations, ie "there is no restriction on the size of prints, however members are strongly encouraged not to exceed the international standard maximum mount size of 50.8 x 40.6 cm (20 x 16 inch)".

Winning Photos

Members who have done well in the Club's competitions throughout the year are invited to send copies of their winning shots in for inclusion in Exposure as well as on the Club's website photo gallery.
