Peter Myers new Executive Officer for AIPP

Friday 27th November, 2009 – The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Myers to the newly created position of Executive Officer.

Peter comes to the AIPP with a wealth of experience and knowledge. A self confessed “enthusiast” when it comes to still photography, Peter shares a love of video and still photography with both AIPP members and the photographic industry. Peter has professional experience in videography after establishing his own business shooting weddings and undertaking corporate video productions in the 1990s.

Peter Myers is a member of the Melbourne Camera Club and Glen Waverley Camera Clubs.

His successful business grew phenomenally becoming Touchline TV which employed more than thirty staff and forty sub contractors. The business provided video production and live TV broadcast services to English Premier League soccer clubs.

Peter and his wife Jill moved to Australia in 2003 when Peter took up still photography as another passion in his life.

'This is an important step forward for the AIPP and for the industry,' says AIPP President Alice Bennett. 'Peter will be able to drive the AIPP, which has been achieving phenomenal growth and success over the past few years, to another level of professionalism.’

'The AIPP is an organisation with great ongoing potential,' says Peter. 'I am looking forward to providing an even better service and membership experience for AIPP members and to grow the institute so that it is considered the peak body for all photographers in Australia.'

'The challenge, however, will be ensuring the Institute is able to help its members through the rapid transformation of the photographic industry to the new “connected” world of 2010 and beyond,' continued Peter.

Peter's management experience covers a vast range of areas including finance, IT, behavioural analysis, team building and leadership, recruitment, organisational transformation and online marketing. Peter has worked in general manager roles for Directories On Line, Staffing Limited and The Peak Performance Institute to name but a few. He is currently based in Melbourne.

Reporting to the AIPP Board, Peter will commence in his role officially on Monday 30th November 2009 in the AIPP's national office in Melbourne.
